Contributions for the CASHRM 704-Forward - HR edition


Calling everyone who has an HR job in the Charlotte area!! We need your help!


Recently, many of you in CASHRM took a survey on the Workforce Readiness of the HR employees being hired in Charlotte. We learned that you felt that Charlotte HR could better prepare their employees, especially in these top knowledge:

·       Learning & Development

·       Performance Management

·       HR Analytics

·       Talent Management

·       Instructional Design

·       Benefits Knowledge

… all areas that should be at the core of an HR employee’s knowledge base!


Our C-WRC team (Charlotte Workforce Readiness Council, pronounced C-Work) has taken the initiative to help individuals coming to your businesses to be ready when called.


This is where we need your help.  Our first step is to provide a guide for HR knowledge in the Charlotte area called 704 Forward – HR Edition We will do this through information shared by you… those in the positions every day and see where the impact is needed


Please share  your voice!


We are asking you to write a short article (between 100-800 words) on one of the topics below. The PURPOSE is to help the incoming individual be successful in their role.


Not sure you can help? Here’s a few suggestions


When writing your article, you may want to ask yourself: How did I feel in this role when I came in? What did I wish I had known? What would I teach someone coming into this role? How could I help them get ahead?


·       Employee Engagement  - Examples: how it’s really done, it’s beyond a buzz word now, how to get an EE survey to matter to your company, how your company does employee engagement well, best practices

·       Talent Acquisition – Examples: how it’s really done, how your company does talent acquisition well, how NOT to do talent acquisition, case studies, best practices

·       Employee Relations – Examples: how it’s really done, what you need to know when starting, what to ask when you get to a new company to understand the culture around employee relations, onboarding best practices

·       Employee Benefits – Examples: how it’s really done, there’s so much information – what should you really learn? How do you know what’s important? best practices

·       Learning & Development – Examples: How it’s done at your work, best resources, different methods of training, best practices,

·       Talent Management – Examples: How it’s done at your work, how to keep great employees, how to keep ANY employee, what it means for you, for others, should you get the SHRM-CP, the PHR, neither or both?  best practices,

·       Performance Management - Examples: How it’s done at your work, how do you know if it’s working or not, best practices,

·       Soft Skills

o   How to best interact with employees at all levels

o   How to have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

o   What integrity means at your company

o   How you can work under pressure and/or to aggressive deadlines

o   How to thrive in a continually changing environment

o   How you handle time management


The first edition of 704-Forward – HR  will be published in August – please take 15-30 minutes this month and help another HR individual by writing what you’ve learned! To qualify your article for the 1st edition – please submit by August 15, 2017!
